What is Track and Trace?

“Track and Trace” is an essential functionality in stock management. It allows us to obtain real-time information about the location and status of materials on a project. Using QR codes, digital solutions and real-time tracking technology, you can maintain an accurate record of your materials.

In this section we take a closer look at how this technology works and why it makes a difference in KAEFER’s business units.

How does our tracking system work?

Our workflow is simple. We assign codes to materials and locations and then use digital tools to record input and output data.

> CODED MATERIAL: Each material and location is assigned a unique QR code. This code allows it to be tracked throughout the end-to-end project.

> REGISTERED MATERIAL: Our systems allow you to record material information in real time to keep track of all your stock.

> STOCK CONTROL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT (DATA TRACKING): All data collected is stored in a central database accessible to authorised personnel. This database forms the backbone of our Track and Trace system, enabling us to track materials at all times.

How is information managed?

We prioritise the security and confidentiality of data, protecting it from unauthorised access and ensuring it remains protected in accordance with KAEFER’s strict standards.

CONTROLLED ACCESS

Only authorised individuals with KAEFER Microsoft accounts can access data.

MANAGED PERMISSIONS

Our designated administrators control who can view and change data. In addition, individual employees can be assigned permissions based on their role to limit unnecessary access.

PRIVACY DATA

To implement the LOGISTICS SOLUTIONS, it is necessary that all materials are properly marked with QR codes. If necessary, these codes can be generic and do not contain any information that could reveal the internal content of the materials, since our solutions can only be used for tracking and logistical control purposes.

DATA BASE

The database and information is owned and managed by each business unit.

To ensure effective tool management, we have an IT expert who assists in the creation and maintenance of the platform

What resources do we need?

The choice of materials and resources is an essential aspect in the planning and execution of any project or activity. This is because each project has its own specific needs and requirements. In your situation, you are dealing with a project that has two key components.

Firstly, there is the need to register and consult the status of materials. This involves the use of portable devices, such as ATEX devices, tablets, mobile phones or computers, which are essential for collecting data, tracking and accessing relevant information in real time. The choice of these devices may depend on factors such as intrinsic safety in hazardous environments, required mobility and necessary technological capabilities.

Secondly, if your project involves the creation of material or location labels, you will need the appropriate tools. A labeller will allow you to produce labels quickly and accurately, while a printer is another common resource that is often used. If durability or resistance is required, a laminator may be useful to protect the labels. Your choice of tools will depend on the type of labels you need to create and the specific features of your project.
